
The NBRMTA is a professional organisation for all teachers of music.
Aims
- To promote progressive ideas on the teaching of music and to encourage definite preparation for the art of teaching.
- To promote and maintain the status of professional music teachers in the community.
- To promote and assist all movements designed to improve the teaching of music and to foster the interest of the public in music and music teaching.
- To stimulate a spirit of comradeship among members by means of social activities.
Membership Categories
Active Membership is for anyone who:
A
- is over eighteen (18) years of age;
- has resided in New Brunswick for at least six (6) months prior to application for membership;
- has been teaching in a professional capacity and under conditions satisfactory to the Board of Examiners for at least two (2) years, or has passed such tests and examinations as may be required by the Board;
- has recognised certification (degree or diploma equivalent to that of a teaching/performing association or licentiate from any university recognised by the Provincial Council).

B
- is a member in good standing of a Registered Music Teachers' Association of a province other than New Brunswick who presents a letter of transfer and completes an application form.
- or -
C
- has an established reputation in the fields of performance and teaching and this application is approved by the Board of Examiners and the Council.
Active Members shall be entitled to use the designation "Registered Music Teacher" or the abbreviation "R.M.T."
Life Membership:
- an active member may be made a Life Member upon recommendation of Council and election at the Annual NBRMTA meeting.
All applicants for Active Membership in the NBRMTA must fill out the application form (available here in English or French) and send it, together with their music credentials and the current NBRMTA dues, to the NBRMTA Registrar.
